June 16, 2006 - Boise and the Sawtooth Mountains

| Today was a non-flying day. Since I have never been to Idaho before, PK drove me around Boise and then up into the Sawtooth Mountains. This is the Boise State Capital. |

We checked out the Boise State University football stadium and its famous blue astroturf. They have a very successful football program here.

| Pete took me on a seven hour driving tour through the Salmon River Mountains northeast of Boise. It's hard to see, but there is a kayaker on the river. Notice also the Cross (memorial) on the edge of the river. You have to know what you are doing when kayaking this river and some have paid the ultimate price. |

| The road climbed to 8,450 feet to get through the mountain pass called Galena Overlook. |
| |

| On the other side of Galena Overlook pass is Sun Valley. It is an upscale town like Aspen, Colorado where the rich and famous hang out. It has a towered airport with a long runway so the Gulfstream jets can fly in. We enjoyed some beer and pizza at this restaurant bar. |
